This residence at Westford Bridge grapples with designing around conservative Victorian-Cape Dutch guidelines. Having its main facade facing slightly south of east towards the Knysna River and lagoon on a site sloping to the east. The response is compact design that tries to control the summer sun, while admitting the winter sun, with the living area opening to a patio with a retractable awning that faces the view. The patio conceals the water storage tanks beneath it and the house benefits from water and electrical solar power generation. Construction commencement is January, 2025.
